Thailand, and Bangkok in particular, is known for having some of the best night markets in Southeast Asia. Regardless of whether you’re a souvenir hunter or an adventurous foodie looking for their next gastronomic challenge, there’s sure to be something interesting for everyone at one of Thailand’s numerous night markets.
Bangkok itself is home to some of the best night markets in Thailand. Being located in central Bangkok, our hotel in Ratchada is within easy reach of several. Here’s our 2024 guide to some of the best night markets in Ratchada.
Jodd Fairs Ratchada (Formerly known as Ratchada Train Night Market)
Opening hours: 4 pm to Midnight (Daily)
Walking distance from hotel: 5 minutes
Address: Rama IX Rd, Huai Khwang, Bangkok 10310
Under its former name, the Ratchada Train Night Market was amongst Bangkok’s most popular night markets for tourists and locals alike. Due to its immense popularity, rumor of its impending demise back in 2021 because of the pandemic brought about much shock and disappointment. Thankfully, the rumors were in error, and the night market continues to thrive under its new name: Jodd Fairs Ratchada.
Situated just 0.5 km from the hotel, Jodd Fairs Ratchada is located between YAK Ratchada Night Market and Big C Ratchada, near the Phra Ram 9 MRT station and Cultural Center.
Taking up an area about 1.5 times the size of an American football field, the market offers the standard clothing and street food stalls, but it’s also famous for its numerous alfresco bars with several craft beer stores that would satisfy even the most demanding alcohol aficionados.
Other highlights include:
- Faye’s handmade shoes: Hip handmade shoes made from denim and leather. Think a pair of skinny jeans, but for your feet!
- Kung Thep: For some delightfully delicious servings of BBQ pork ribs and seafood. Eating with your hands makes it even more of an experience.
- Moodaengs Amphawa: Homemade ice cream but with a twist. Kung (shrimp) flavored ice cream anyone?
- MR.SHELL: Cheesy renditions of some of your favorite shellfish. They don’t hold back on the cheese!
YAK Ratchada Night Market
Opening hours: 5 pm to Midnight (Daily)
Walking distance from hotel: 0.5km (5 minutes)
Address: 55/10 Ratchadapisek Road, Din Daeng Subdistrict, Din Daeng District, Bangkok, Thailand

The YAK Ratchada Night Market was opened in September 2022 to celebrate the slow but steady resurgence of tourism in Thailand. Practically just around the corner from the hotel, YAK Ratchada Night Market and Jodd Fairs Ratchada markets are the closest night markets and can also be reached from the Thailand Cultural Centre MRT station.
Similar in size to Jodd Fairs Night Market, this night market is home to many shops, though a significant portion of the stores seem dedicated specifically to ladies clothing.
But if it’s food you’re after, this night market is also on par with the rest. There are a number of gastronomic adventures to be had here.
Our top food picks include:
- Bear Milk: For some truly delightful milk tea.
- Holy Shrimp: Cajun-esque seafood combos for the seafood lovers.
- Bangdol Rice Biryani Fried Chicken: Authentic good old Biryani from Phuket.
- Tamayaki Tamayaki: Crispy Japanese croissants filled with red bean goodness.
The Street Ratchada Night Market
Opening hours: Mall: 24 Hours
Night Market: 5 pm to 11 pm (Daily)
Walking distance from hotel: 0.9km (11 minutes)
Address: 139 Ratchadaphisek Road, Din Daeng Subdistrict, Din Daeng District, Bangkok 10400
Directions: https://goo.gl/maps/SpjCppGUg3SV5UG19
Like the other night markets on our list, this one is within walking distance of both the hotel and the Thailand Cultural Centre MRT Station. But, unlike the others, it has a 24-hour mall attached, though the night market itself only operates from 5 pm to 11 pm.
If alfresco dining is what you’re after then The Street Ratchada Night Market is perfect. There’s plenty of outdoor seating available for you to enjoy the spoils of your street food hunt around the night market.
For the bargain souvenir hunter, you will be spoilt for choice with numerous stalls selling unique art pieces and trinkets for you to take home. Be it a centerpiece for the dining table or a unique piece of art to adorn your hallway, you’ll find something special here.
